Transforming lives and communities in Panama: the positive impact of CABEI donations and grants

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), renewing its commitment to human development in Panama, contributed to the progress and wellbeing of the communities through significant contributions to different organizations for more than US$41,000.00 during 2023.

SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT

Recognizing that every support has a direct impact on the lives of those who struggle with adverse situations, CABEI supported the Pro-Children's Soup Kitchens Foundation through the purchase of tickets to help feed children throughout the country.

Likewise, the International Center for Sustainable Development (CIDES) received a contribution of US$2,500.00 for the National Meeting on Sustainable Development, which was attended by a diversity of actors under the articulating axis of sustainable development who focused on the challenges posed by the concentration of socioeconomic activities in the interoceanic region for territorial management and the fulfillment of the global agenda.

The Pro-Niños de Darién Foundation, an organization created to reduce child malnutrition through activities related to nutrition, health, education, production and community development programs, received US$8,000.00 from CABEI for a rainwater collection, storage and filtration project for children in the province of Darién.

For its part, Casa Esperanza Pro-Rescate del Niño en la Calle, in order to strengthen support for projects in the province of Colón, received a contribution of US$2,000.00 from the Bank, earmarked for this laudable initiative.

The Nuestra Señora del Camino Foundation, a non-profit social organization that works for human development and equity through educational, social and economic programs in the Oriente Chiricano and the Ngäbe Buglé region, received a donation of US$10,000.00 to contribute to one of its flagship projects called "Campeonas Solares" (Solar Champions).

EDUCATIONAL ASPECT

This year, motivated by the youth of the Santa María de la Antigua de Panamá University (USMA), the multilateral contributed US$1,500.00 to the Victoria Awards, an award given by students of Social Communication of this prestigious university to the country's communicators, and in which the Bank sponsored the category: Best Content with Positive Social Impact.

In addition, US$10,000.00 was given to the Asociación Panameña para el Desarrollo Integral de la Comunicación Social (APADICOS), a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote, consolidate and contribute to the country's development through social participation, to adapt the facilities of the Achiote School in the Province of Colón, District of Chagres.

INNOVATION WAS ALSO KEY

Innovation is also one of the aspects supported by CABEI. For this reason, US$5,000.00 was donated to the World Robotics Olympics, which this year had Panama as the host country for the international final for the first time and was organized by the National Foundation for the Development of STEAM (FUNDESTEAM).

CABEI SAYS, PRESENT

With these actions, CABEI collaborates with the communities of Panama, with the firm purpose of improving people's quality of life and recognizing the tireless work of local entities that strive to serve the people in their countries.
