San Salvador, November 16, 2016. – In order to strengthen the knowledge of Salvadoran Financial Institutions with regard to the energy sector, the Salvadoran Association of Renewable Energies and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), through its Green MSME Initiative, began providing a training course denominated, "Financial Evaluation of Small Hydroelectric Power Plants." The course, which will be held in the city of Antiguo Cuscatlán, La Libertad, El Salvador will last a total of 16 classroom hours.

The course curriculum includes the subject of Small Hydroelectric Power Plants as a renewable energy source obtained from the responsible use of water resources. Currently, many national and foreign developers have shown interest in investing in this type of renewable energy projects and are seeking financing to leverage such projects. Therefore, it is important to provide financial institutions with tools that enable them to provide integral attention to developers, while maintaining proper risk evaluation criteria.

The course "Financial Evaluation of Small Hydroelectric Power Plants" is a complement to courses already carried out at Universidad Don Bosco in the "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Diploma course" and to training sessions of the graduate course denominated, “Training in Photovoltaic Solar Energy for Executives and Credit Analysts,” carried out at Instituto Superior de Administración de Empresas and at the National Cleaner Production Center. The training course concludes a series of training workshop targeted at financial institutions that are clients of CABEI, which ratifies its commitment to and compliance with its 2015-2019 Institutional Strategy.

The training course was attended by 25 executives from the following Financial Institutions: Banco G&T Continental, Banco de América Central, Banco Hipotecario, Banco de los Trabajadores de Salvadoreños BTS, Banco de Desarrollo de El Salvador BANDESAL, Banco Davivienda, Banco Promerica and Multi Inversiones MI Banco.
