Mr. Jaime Roberto Diaz Palacios elected as the new Executive Vice President of CABEI

Tegucigalpa Agust 25 , 2020.- The Board of Directors of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), in a session held today, elected Mr. Jaime Roberto Diaz Palacios as the new Executive Vice President of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration to hold the position for the next five years.

The new Vice President of CABEI was elected pursuant to CABEI’s institutional policy, through a highly competitive selection process carried out by hiring the services of a world-renowned Consulting Firm, in accordance with the highest standards, international quality and with the expression of interest of more than 580 candidates from 25 countries around the world.

Mr. Diaz Palacios has a solid professional career of more than 15 years in the field of Economics and Finance for Development, in the public sector and in economic development from a think tank with cross-cutting impact, leading the National Competitiveness Program in Guatemala (between 2012 and 2015) and in the World Bank with the position of Senior Advisor for the Executive Director (between 2015 and 2019).

His work experience is additionally supported by a robust professional training of undergraduate studies in Economics from the Francisco Marroquín University of Guatemala, a Master’s in Economics from the LSE, followed by a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University.

This year, CABEI adds the commemoration of its 60th anniversary of foundation, and is currently the main economic institution of Central American integration. Last April, the Bank increased its authorized capital from US$5,000 to US$7,000 million, with which US$450 million of capital paid in cash will be received in the next 8 years. It has AA risk ratings from Standard & Poor’s, Japan Credit Rating and Moody’s with an Aa3 rating.
