San José, November 3rd, 2023 - As a token of appreciation for the opportunity to attend festivals and camps of world-renowned music schools such as Luzerne Music Center, International Katarzyna Mycka Marimba Academy, British Isles Music Festival, among others, the 43 students of the National Institute of Music (INM) who were awarded scholarships by the Social Support Foundation (FAS) of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) offered an honorary recital in which they demonstrated the knowledge they have acquired.

The concert, entitled "Ambassadors of Music" and held at the National Auditorium of the Children's Museum in San José, was attended by the Minister of Communication, Jorge Rodríguez, and the Minister of Culture and Youth, Nayuribe Guadamuz, as well as Costa Rica's CABEI Country Director, Erwen Masís, FAS Manager, Jaejin Lee, CABEI Country Chief, Álvaro Alfaro, INM Academic Director, Ricardo Chaves, among other representatives, family members and friends of the students.

"It was a unique experience that I would not have been able to achieve without this scholarship program. I had the great opportunity to learn many things such as technique, pedagogical methods, staging, as well as sharing with people from other countries and cultures," said Jimena Chacón, INM student and trumpet player, and one of the first scholarship recipients to participate in a summer camp for young artists at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Spain.

Thanks to the support of FAS-CABEI, this is the first year in which the Support Program for Young Costa Rican Artistic Talent, promoted by the Presidency of the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica, the Ministry of Culture and Youth, and the National Institute of Music, was developed, with which the beneficiaries were able to expand their knowledge, both in the musical disciplines they practice, as well as cultural, by sharing with students from other latitudes and elite teachers.

FAS was created by CABEI in 2021 with the objective of promoting high social impact programs in the Bank's member countries, accelerating the region's development by promoting initiatives that improve the development of human capital and the quality of life of socially vulnerable populations.
