Through the Green MSMEs II Initiative, support was provided for the "Open Doors Day and Green Business Roundtable: Promoting Sustainability," in which nearly 200 entrepreneurs, academics and international organizations participated.
Panama City, Panama, February 9th, 2024.- With the objective of discussing corporate challenges in terms of sustainability policies and projects with social, environmental and economic impact, City of Knowledge (Ciudad del Saber) developed the "Open Doors Day and Green Business Roundtable: Promoting Sustainability", with the support of the Green MSMEs II Initiative of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the European Union (EU) and the Government of Germany, through the KfW.
The event featured exhibits by City of Knowledge member organizations, a conference program focused on issues of sustainability, circular economy, renewable energy and cleaner production, as well as a green business roundtable, through which trade exchange was enhanced, providing an opportunity to make alliances and meet new suppliers and customers.
This joint effort between the City of Knowledge and the Green MSMEs II Initiative seeks to raise awareness about the importance of having more efficient corporate processes in the use of energy, resources and waste management, position all those stakeholders of the business ecosystem with socially and environmentally responsible projections, and attract investment for green projects that focus on strengthening sustainability and energy use.
At the regional level, the Green MSMEs II Initiative has granted more than US$37 million in loans and more than US$7 million in guarantees, protecting more than 10,000 jobs in more than 600 companies. This alliance between CABEI, the German government through KfW and the European Union seeks to protect the climate and the environment by creating and offering appropriate, efficient and sustainable financial products for the sector with investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency and cleaner production.
