Tegucigalpa, June 13, 2023.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is a pioneer in initiating the transition of its vehicle fleet through the acquisition of electric vehicles, charging stations, among other actions that contribute to the mitigation and adaptation of the effects of climate change in the Headquarters building in Tegucigalpa, Honduras with a view to complying with the Cross-cutting Axis of Environmental and Social Sustainability of the Institutional Strategy, as well as Sustainable Development Goal 13, called Climate Action.

These electric vehicles are considered ecological, because they do not need fuel for their operation, they have zero greenhouse emissions since they use a battery to power their engine and do not burn fuel internally, they also require less oil and coolants, so they improve air quality and produce less noise than conventional vehicles, which contributes to a friendlier environment with little noise pollution.

With the aim of encouraging and promoting new sustainable and sustainable alternatives in the region, the Bank has resources to finance this type of vehicle to partner countries, and has also designed financial products for its employees to purchase hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as energy generation alternatives for their homes.

CABEI, being the Green Bank of Central America, maintains the faithful commitment to improve mobility in our partner countries with cleaner and more efficient forms of transport, and for this it is crucial to work with strategic allies that allow them to be manufactured and made more affordable, that is why different actors from the private sector of Honduras have been invited, so that they join betting on 100% electric mobility and introduce more efficient and less polluting vehicles to the Central American market.
