Antigua Guatemala, October 25, 2019.- As a member of the Federation of Latin American Banks (FELABAN), the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) participated in the  XXVIII Latin American Congress on Trusts (COLAFI), where the latest trends and practices of the fiduciary industry were discussed.

CABEI Country Manager for Honduras, Manuel Torres, made a presentation focused on Multilateral Loans through Fiduciary Guarantee Schemes and the importance of the Multilateral Banking role in promoting innovative schemes that allow countries to meet their investment needs in infrastructure through the participation of the private sector in order to improve the quality of life of society.

For his part, CABEI Head of the Financial Institutions and Strategic Programs Department, Otto Gutierrez, stated that, "By actively participating in the financial industry, the Bank has positioned itself as a promoter of these mechanisms in the framework of the financial products that support the private sector of its member countries, through which it promotes not only the financing of projects, but also the incorporation of versatile and efficient schemes that improve the competitiveness of the countries, considering the impact on the development of new information technologies and digital financial services.

With regard to challenges in the field, the meeting allowed to build bridges between multilateral organizations, commercial banks, regulatory entities and guarantee entities, among others, in order to take advantage of the knowledge acquired and transform it into concrete actions to promote the fiduciary industry as one of the most reliable and cross-cutting for the proper adoption of best international practices in fund administration, project financing and financial risk management.

The XXVIII Latin American Congress on Trusts (COLAFI) addressed such issues as the fiduciary services market and opportunities in the digital age; risks and the responsibilities assumed in the face of the commercial expectation of a fiduciary company; public trusts and an environment conducive to consolidating a Fiduciary Business in Latin America; money laundering prevention; financial engineering; and the evolution of industry in Latin America.
