CABEI signs US$67.0 million loan agreement with Nicaragua

The CABEI operation will finance the Project, “Improvement of the Nejapa-El Crucero-Diriamba-Jinotepe-Nandaime Highway Stretches.”

Managua, November 15, 2016. -    The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Government of Nicaragua signed a US$67.0 million loan to finance the Project, “Improvement of the Nejapa - El Crucero - Diriamba - Jinotepe - Nandaime Highway Stretches.”The Project involves the construction of two highway stretches using hot asphalt mix. The highway stretches, which total 58.13 kilometers, are located in the departments of Managua, Carazo and Granada,

The highway stretches include:

a.            The Nejapa-El Crucero-Diriamba stretch, which is 33.32 km long and will have direct cost of US$33.4 million.

 

b.            The Diriamba-Jinotepe-Nandaime stretch, which is 24.81 km long and will have a direct cost of US$21.6 million.

The Project is expected to directly benefit 197 thousand inhabitants and indirectly benefit 80 thousand people by improving the productive and marketing capacity of small and medium producers and facilitating access of the population in the project’s target area to healthcare and educational services. The highway in mention is part of the Pacific Corridor of the Mesoamerican International Highway Network, and therefore considered as a high priority for the country.
