Guatemala City, October 26, 2018.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) has been recognized with the Order of the Jaguar in its Official Degree,= by the Secretariat of Central American Economic Integration (SIECA).

The "Order of the Jaguar" recognizes the contributions of individuals, entities or institutions, Central American or not, that have become strategic partners in the economic integration process.

During the last 10 years, CABEI has disbursed close to 16 billion dollars in 669 operations to finance different programs and projects in different sectors, including productive and social infrastructure, energy, health and education, among others.

Throughout its history, CABEI has reaffirmed its role as the most important source of multilateral financing for the region. With regard to multilateral development banks, CABEI's volume of transactions has provided it with a participation of close to 50% of the total disbursements to Central America over the last 15 years.

CABEI will continue to promote regional integration processes through development interventions at national and regional levels in order to contribute to closing the gaps in economic and social infrastructure with a focus on sustainability that favors a more integrated, competitive and inclusive region.

The decoration has been delivered within the framework of the 57th anniversary of SIECA, which is the technical and administrative body of the economic integration subsystem. SIECA's mission is to contribute to the consolidation of the region's economic integration process and its insertion into international markets.
