CABEI promotes improvements to strengthen security in the Pedernales Border Zone, Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo, November 14th, 2023. With the objective of increasing border security in the Province of Pedernales, in the southeast of the Dominican Republic, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) supported the construction of a larger and more modern headquarters of the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (CESFRONT), as well as the remodeling of a detachment of the headquarters in Cabo Rojo and the construction of 11 houses through a non-reimbursable financial cooperation of US$500,000.00.
This support to the Dominican Government and the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (MEPyD) seeks to improve border security in Pedernales by upgrading the conditions of the CESFRONT, which will be used to carry out surveillance and protection tasks in the area with more effective attention by increasing the response capacity.
CABEI Director for the Dominican Republic, Hostos Rizik, expressed: ''we are proud to be able to collaborate in strengthening the security capacities of our country, supporting the actions of the Dominican Government aimed at reestablishing the infrastructure and increasing security in the border area''.
