CABEI approves credit for US$100.00 million to National Bank of Panama
The line of credit is aimed at strengthening the country's financial system.
Tegucigalpa, November 21, 2018.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), approved a Global Credit Line for an amount of US$100.00 million to the National Bank of Panama/Banco Nacional de Panamá.
With this loan, which falls under the framework of CABEI's Institutional Strategy, "Integrating Sustainable Development and Competitiveness," the multilateral development organization seeks to contribute to the generation of employment, economic growth and the promotion of commercial and social activity, as a result of financial intermediation.
In addition, the funds would come to support the growth of National Bank of Panama's operations through the channeling of resources by means of the programs included in the Global Credit Line; it is estimated that 23 entities and 392 individuals will benefit.
The agreement was formalized between CABEI Executive President, Dr. Nick Rischbieth, and the General Manager of National Bank of Panama, Mr. Rolando Julio de León de Alba.
The initiative is part of the CABEI efforts in favor of social development with a focus on strategic objectives aimed at creating opportunities for income generation.
