CABEI contributes to the diagnosis and medical treatment of 600 Nicaraguan children with cancer
Managua, November 28th, 2023. TheCentral American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) made a US$5,000.00 donation to the Nicaraguan Commission for Assistance to Children with Cancer and Leukemia (CONANCA) to help improve the quality of life of Central Americans and ensure medical oncology treatment for 600 children with cancer.
As part of the contribution provided by CABEI's Directorate for Nicaragua, the Commission will be able to purchase nearly 2,000 blood biometry tests, which will enable a more accurate diagnosis of diseases such as leukemia, anemia,b and infections in children receiving care at the Hemato-Oncology Department of the Manuel de Jesús Rivera "La Mascota" Children's Hospital.
The relationship between CONANCA and CABEI in recent years has been of great importance, since, with the economic donations granted, it has been possible to maintain the survival rate of childhood cancer at 65%.
During 2022, CONANCA applied a total of 13,738 chemotherapies, carried out 16,119 medical consultations, 17,417 blood tests, among other actions, and attended 277 new cases of diagnosed children.
