CABEI supports sports with the development of international-standard infrastructure for athletes in the region

San Salvador, June 26th, 2023.- Encouraging sports among young athletes in the region to promote healthy lifestyles, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) reaffirms its commitment and support for sports with important advances in the intervention of nine sports venues included in the Program for the Construction of Infrastructure and Rescue of Sports Venues at the National Level (PRODEPORTE) in El Salvador.

These venues, which have the financial backing of CABEI with US$115.2 million, are being remodeled, built, rehabilitated and equipped with the highest international standards used in the world for the development of 38 important sports disciplines, and are hosting the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games from June 23rd to July 8th.

PRODEPORTE's objective is to stimulate the individual and collective practice of sports to prevent violence, improve health, professionalize more than 50,000 Salvadoran athletes who are making use of the new facilities, as well as for the inhabitants' recreation.

In addition, the development of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games is an important milestone in the region's sports calendar, as it represents an opportunity to strengthen ties among the participating countries, thus fostering regional integration.
