55th CABEI Board of Governors Meeting to be held in Medellin, Colombia

Tegucigalpa, April 13, 2015. – This year, the city of Medellin, in the department of Antioquia, Colombia will be the site of the 55th Ordinary Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

CABEI announced that the important event, which will bring together Ministers of Economy, Finance and Central Banks from all the Central American nations and other non-regional countries members of the Bank, will be held on April 23 and 24, 2015 in Medellin, a city that was declared one of the most innovative in the world by the international Urban Land Institute (ULI)

The Board of Governors meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 23. Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos is expected to attend the inauguration, which will be held at a well-known hotel in the city.

The annual meeting is held in order to discuss the challenges facing the economies of the region, as well as to decide about possible new CABEI investments and regulations for the admission of non-founding regional and non-regional members.

Colombia has been a non-regional member of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) since 1996. 

CABEI is currently the main provider of development-oriented financial resources to the region. Its new 2015-2019 Institutional Strategy "Integrating Sustainable Development and Competitiveness" includes the channeling of US$8.77 billion for this period to address needs in Social Development, Competitiveness and Regional Integration.
