PROJECTS
Coral Highway Project
It consisted of the construction of a 70-kilometer-long, 4-lane highway, for which financing of US$70.0 million was allocated.
Improvement and Expansion of the Eastern Road Corridor for road sections
San Pedro de Macorís-La Romana Section, La Romana Beltway Section and Eastern Tourist Boulevard Section, totaling 78 kilometers in length and representing the best road infrastructure in the country.
Palomino Hydroelectric Project
With a clean and renewable energy generation capacity of 80 megawatts, it is located in the Province of San Juan. For its execution, the Bank allocated financing for a total amount of US$ 130.0 million
Construction of a 50-kilometer gas pipeline in San Pedro de Macorís
Loan in favor of AES Dominicana for a total amount of US$54.00 million.
Montegrande Multipurpose Dam Project Phase III
With current financing of US$249.6 million
Through the Korea-CABEI Partnership Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF), CABEI will donate health sector supplies to the Bank's beneficiary countries to respond to the emergency caused by COVID-19
The donation will constitute an in-kind contribution for $ 3.0 million in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the health sector areas in the Bank's beneficiary countries.
Tegucigalpa, Honduras, January 7, 2021.- As a sign of its commitment to mitigate the consequences of the crisis caused by COVID-19, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) announced today that it will be granting a donation of supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to 9 beneficiary countries, which are Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, the Dominican Republic and Cuba. The donation that was approved by the Republic of Korea through a non-reimbursable Technical Cooperation within the framework of the Korea-CABEI Partnership Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF), is intended to provide the beneficiary countries with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) of Korean origin which consist of KF-94 masks and protective gowns.
Through the Technical Cooperation to be executed by CABEI, the highest quality and essential health sector products will be supplied to local beneficiaries in the CABEI member countries in accordance with their previously identified national priority and will also support the efforts to contain COVID-19 and thus contribute to the protection of the medical care providers in the different health centers of each country. It is also expected to contribute to the beneficiary countries by providing inputs that are derived from the technology, experience and technical knowledge of the Republic of Korea in the health sector.
The acting CABEI Executive President, Mr. Jaime Diaz, stated that this Technical Cooperation is complementary to the Emergency Support and Preparedness Program for COVID-19 and the economic reactivation of the countries that was approved by the Bank in April 2020, and that the products to be donated will allow the countries to continue implementing immediate actions with the objective of providing a prompt response to the population and the health system as well as helping to curb the spread of the virus.
Likewise, Mr. Diaz mentioned that “the Bank's participation as the implementing entity of this important non-reimbursable Technical Cooperation granted within the framework of the Korea-CABEI Partnership Single Donor Trust Fund is one more step towards the consolidation of CABEI's relations, the countries of the Central American region and the Republic of Korea, which will undoubtedly continue to bring many benefits to our countries during these times of emergency that is so much needed."
The execution of the Technical Cooperation and the donation of the in-kind contribution for $ 3.0 million is expected to be carried out during the 1st quarter of 2021.
