Tegucigalpa, December 13, 2016. – As part of the initiatives of its Institutional Responsibility Program (PRI) and in order to support women returning to work after maternity leave, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) through its Human Resources Office inaugurated the CABEI Lactation Room at its headquarters in Honduras.

The functional installations of the lactation room will enable women to exercise their right to breastfeed and contribute to the reconciliation between family life and work life.

The room offers privacy and comfort so that its users can extract their milk or breastfeed their babieswithout disturbances and in a pleasant environment. Its location is accessible to all mothers, including those with disabilities.

CABEI Executive Vice President Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony where he stated that, "In an environment where women gain more ground in the labor and educational fields, the Institution seeks to adapt to women’s needs and create spaces where they can carry out their life cycle with dignity."

Motherhood is a precious gift that requires sacrifice and love. In the framework of the lactation room’s inauguration, a milk collection campaign was carried out in order to raise awareness about healthy eating habits. The milk collected will be donated to an orphanage.
