CABEI reinforces the actions of the Mesoamerica Project to continue strengthening the integration and development of Mesoamerica.

Tegucigalpa, February 3, 2017. -  The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) together with other strategic partners of the Inter-Institutional Technical Group (GTI) held a meeting to establish the strategic vision for the Mesoamerican Integration and Development Project (PM).

The initiative seeks to generate an updated vision for the PM’s next ten years, which will enable planning and coordination of work based on present realities and future challenges.

In the framework of the new strategic vision, a second session of the Strategic Vision Workshop was held in Honduras. Currently, Honduras holds the PM’s Pro Tempore Presidency for the first semester of the year in conjunction with Mexico, in its capacity as Permanent President.

The workshop, which was led by the Executive Committee composed of the Presidential Commissioners representing the member countries, was presided over by Honduran Presidential Designee, Rossana Guevara Pinto; PM General Director of the Mexican Agency for International Cooperation for Development, Ambassador Bruno Figueroa; and PM Executive Director, Lidia Fromm Cea.

The roundtable began with a general diagnosis report of PM and recommendations for institutional, sector and communicational strengthening.

While making a review of CABEI’s support to PM, the Bank's Executive President, Dr. Nick Rischbieth, stated that "The institution maintains an active participation as an Administrator Bank and as a member of the GTI. In the framework of the PM and during the 2012-2016 period, CABEI provided significant funding totaling US$1.13 billion for projects in the infrastructure and electricity sector, infrastructure interconnection initiatives and transportation and social housing services.”
