CABEI and the Taiwan ICDF highlight economic and social development options in favor of the financial system through Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Tegucigalpa, August 31, 2018.- Specialists from the Taiwan Development and International Cooperation Fund (TaiwanICDF) undertook a work tour to review the results of the efforts already made through projects, programs and cooperation that increase competitiveness and the inclusion of young people and women in the Central American region within the framework of the alliance with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

The Taiwan Development and International Cooperation Fund is dedicated to promoting socio-economic development, improving human resources and promoting economic relations in a number of developing member countries. It also offers humanitarian assistance and aid in case of natural disasters or international refugee crises.

The experts were received by CABEI Executive Vice President, Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez who, in the company of other officials, reiterated that this visit reinforces the institution's collaboration with TaiwanICDF, with whom the Bank has different projects, programs and technical cooperations.

The work agenda kicked off last Tuesday with several meetings with CABEI executives, where they discussed such issues as  progress in programs related to educational credit, strengthening of productive infrastructure, practices for sustainable coffee growing in the region, business financing for women, inclusion of young people, sustainable tourism and access of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to markets.

The day included visits to the projects executed through the Rural Infrastructure Program, which is executed by the Honduran Social Investment Fund (FHIS) and involves the provision of rural infrastructure services (roads, electrification and water and sanitation) to 9 rural municipal associations in Honduras.

Furthermore, a tour was made of the Honduran universities affiliated with the CABEI Educational Credit Program, which included meetings with students of said educational institutions and with Financial Institutions that channel these resources in the country. Both programs are financed with resources from the Republic of China (Taiwan) through TaiwanICDF.
