US$70.0 million from CABEI for Atlantida integration financial group in Central America

The purpose is to serve a segment of 3.2 million people, generate 407 new permanent jobs.

Tegucigalpa October 28, 2020.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) approved a US$70.0 million loan to Inversiones Atlántida, S.A. (INVATLAN) and Banco Atlántida, S.A. (BANCATLAN) of the Republic of Honduras.

The availability of these resources will not only finance the regional expansion of the Atlantida financial group, but will also contribute to the strengthening of its technological platform, so that a greater number of people will become bankable by facilitating access to cross-border transactions, payment points between customers/suppliers, mobile banking, electronic banking, in addition to the inclusion of a greater number of financial services.

About this operation, CABEI's Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi said "the strategic plan that the financial group Atlántida is undertaking with its expansion in the region is remarkable, the growth of this type of institutions brings with it a series of benefits both for the financial market and also for the population directly, since it automatically generates new jobs and contributes to more people in our countries being able to benefit from more resources and financial services”.

It is estimated that the implementation of these resources will benefit 3.2 million people, 51.0% of whom are women. Likewise, the intervention would contribute to the generation of 407 new permanent jobs, reaching a total of 4,977 jobs generated, of which 51.0% will be occupied by women.

The operation is framed in the 2020-2024 CABEI Institutional Strategy, within the Sustainable Competitiveness Axis, contributing to the strategic objective of contributing to inclusive economic growth and supporting countries in their economic policies by promoting MSMEs and their incorporation into value chains.
