STATEMENT

Tegucigalpa, June 6, 2017. - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), which was created as the financial arm for the region’s integration and development, states the following:
1.    With regard to CABEI's participation as co-financer of the Agua Zarca Hydroelectric Project located in Honduras, it has not made disbursements to the project since December 2015 and clarifies that it has no intention of continuing funding.
2.    As the main provider of resources to the region, CABEI has an Environmental and Social Policy and a System for Identification, Evaluation and Mitigation of Environmental and Social Risks, based on international standards and integrated into the projects’ cycle; which has been applied to all operations financed by the Bank.
3.    In addition, as part of its mitigation of environmental and social risks system, CABEI requires consultation processes with interest groups in all of its operations, seeking the highest international standards in the identification, design, implementation and monitoring of operations.

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration reaffirms its commitment that every project financed by this institution must have high impact in development, providing special attention to environmental sustainability to improve the quality of life of its citizens.
