Promoting partnerships to promote a digital transformation in Costa Rica

CABEI inaugurates workshop aimed at generating digital development in the country.

San José, November 27, 2019.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) together with the National Information Agency of the Republic of Korea (NIA) and in coordination with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications of Costa Rica (MICITT) inaugurated the workshop denominated,  “Towards a digital transformation: digital government, interoperability and digital inclusion."

The two-day workshop was held at the CABEI Country Office in Costa Rica with the aim of fostering alliances that generate new opportunities for the country's digital development. In addition, the event aimed to position the country as a benchmark in topics relevant to technology, creating new perspectives and fostering opportunities for the population.

Topics addressed
Noteworthy issues raised included the digital transformation in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, key factors for success in the development of a digital government, experiences of the Republic of Korea, standards for digital government and interoperability strategies, digital inclusion strategies, cybersecurity and major projects in Korea.

During the activity, CABEI Country Manager for Costa Rica, Mauricio Chacón, highlighted that, "At the Bank we are aware of the importance of digital transformation to promote the competitiveness of Costa Rica; therefore, digital inclusion is an essential element to address in order to solve the region's inequalities.”

With the collaboration of the Republic of Korea, the team of facilitators managed to convey their innovative ideas and propose the development of new digitalization opportunities based on their knowledge.

The workshop was aimed at officials from ministries, municipalities and public institutions of national interest involved with the topics discussed at the workshop.
