CABEI visits the Beach Corridor Project in Panama to verify the progress of the project

The Bank recognizes and reaffirms its commitment to the execution of this important initiative, whose works are expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

Panama, June 01, 2023.- With the purpose of verifying the construction progress of the Beach Corridor Project, technical teams from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) toured these works, whose total financing comes from CABEI for US$140.0 million and which recently made a second disbursement of US$10.1 million.

Currently, the initiative, which aims to reduce travel times and increase road safety for more than 2.5 million Panamanians who need to travel between the capital and the western part of the country, is 38.0% complete.

This is one of the operations with the greatest impact on the economic and social development of the country, with a great positive impact on the quality of life of the people, and which contributes to human development, gender equity and inclusion through employment opportunities.

This initiative, which received a first disbursement of US$23.6 million from CABEI in April of this year, benefits the country as a whole by facilitating mobility for access to services such as hospitals, schools, shopping centers and others.
