Patients to receive palliative medical care in Guatemala with CABEI support
A donation will provide comprehensive care to terminally ill patients from public institutions in the country.
Guatemala City, September 23, 2021.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) made a donation to the Ammar Ayudando Foundation in the amount of 30,981.40 quetzales to support low-income patients with terminal illnesses in Guatemala with medical services and comprehensive palliative care.
These resources will support the work of a team of health professionals from the Foundation to control the symptoms of discomfort and to manage the physical, psychological, and sociological pain that the patient may experience. In addition, nursing services, spiritual counseling, food, laundry, medications, oxygen, and medical supplies will be provided to ensure compassionate, competent, and free care for those most in need.
"Having adequate medical attention and being able to live life with peace of mind, dignity and fulfillment until the last moment is a right for everyone. CABEI will continue to identify and support initiatives that improve the social conditions of Guatemalan families, communities and society," commented CABEI Executive President Dr. Dante Mossi.
The donation was presented by Mr. Hugo Roberto Martínez Rebulla, CABEI Director for Guatemala, who confirmed the Bank's commitment to continue supporting these types of social programs that seek to comprehensively address the medical service needs of the population with limited resources in Guatemala.
This type of action is part of CABEI's Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility System (SASC), which seeks to address the challenges and opportunities for the benefit of people in the region.
