Half a million residents of Puntarenas benefit from CABEI's historic investment

Puntarenas, October 2, 2024.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is transforming the province of Puntarenas through the Comprehensive and Resilient Infrastructure Reconstruction Emergency Program (PROERI). With an investment of US$340 million, benefiting 500,000 Costa Ricans.

Today, during an official visit, the President of the Republic, Rodrigo Chaves, together with several ministers, the CABEI country director for Costa Rica, Erwen Masís, and CABEI country manager, Álvaro Alfaro, highlighted the project's progress. Thanks to this investment, Puntarenas will have a new Monseñor Sanabria Hospital, 52 renovated educational centers, 44 reinforced bridges, and 21 improved roads. In addition, access to potable water will be guaranteed, and flood defenses will be strengthened.

This initiative represents CABEI's and the Government of Costa Rica's firm commitment to building a more prosperous and equitable future for the people of Puntarenas. PROERI projects will not only improve the quality of life, but will also boost the local economy and position the province as an attractive destination for investment and tourism, ensuring a legacy of sustainable development for generations to come.
