Tegucigalpa July 1, 2022.- Taking diversity month as a framework, CABEI's Ethics Office held the internal training seminar "Inclusion as a tool for development". The objective was to incorporate the ethical perspective in CABEI’s projects, technical cooperation programs, and operations based on respect for human dignity, diversity, and equity, which are key factors of corporate governance.

The event featured the participation of Anne Marie Urban, Lead Social Development Specialist at the IDB's Gender and Diversity Division; Luciana Fainstain, gender specialist from CAF's Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion Department; Juan Carlos Sainz Borgo, Dean of the Universidad para la Paz; and Melanie Tobal, Director of Publicitarias.org.

During the opening, CABEI's Executive President stated: "It is our responsibility as a regional bank to analyze the new global scenarios and the demands of invisible and/or underrepresented groups so that development reaches each and every one of the communities of the CABEI member countries. He added: "This space is an area for reflection and, at the same time, the opportunity to act towards comprehensive, diverse, and inclusive development."

Claudia María Castro Valle, Deputy Secretary and Ethics Officer a.i. of CABEI stated: “Our role as a development bank invites us to understand the specificities and problems facing women, the elderly, Afro-descendants, young people, indigenous peoples, and the LGBTIQ+ collective. Today, they continue to suffer from exclusion and discrimination in the countries of the region”. She then said: "We try to ensure that each person who works in our institution promotes respect and tolerance not only in their work environment but also in their immediate social environment."

The seminar is part of the cycle of conferences "Ethics for Development" that includes the development of training programs for CABEI staff with the aim of preventing unethical behavior and promoting an environment of respect and tolerance.
