CABEI disburses US$2.0 million to support the economic and operational growth of MSMEs in Dominican Republic

The resources disbursed are expected to contribute to boosting the country's economy.

Santo Domingo, June 8th, 2023 - In support of the productive sectors in their economic reactivation and in strengthening their working capital, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) recently disbursed US$2.0 million to its strategic ally Banco de Desarrollo y Exportaciones (BANDEX), funds that will be channeled through Banco de Ahorro y Crédito FONDESA, S.A. (BANFONDESA).

These resources are part of the Global Credit Line between CABEI and BANDEX formalized in 2021 for US$30.0 million, which is expected to benefit 857 legal entities, which provide an average of 40 jobs each.

The funds disbursed are part of CABEI's Financial Sector Support Facility Program for the Financing of MSMEs, whose objective is to provide support to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to contribute to their adaptation, solvency and transformation, as part of their economic reactivation after the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, more than three years after the pandemic, the multilateral continues to allocate resources to this important sector, with the firm purpose of contributing to inclusive economic growth and supporting countries in their economic policies through the promotion of MSMEs.
