CABEI and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Dominican Republic agree to work together to strengthen the agricultural sector

Santo Domingo, April 16, 2021.- In order to strengthen the Dominican Republic's agricultural sector, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Dominican Republic signed an agreement of understanding to establish a general framework for collaboration.

The instrument, which is aimed at modernizing and training the agricultural sector, was signed by CABEI Country Chief Officer Manuel Ogando and Minister of Agriculture Limber Cruz, as well as CABEI Director for the Dominican Republic, Hostos Rizik, as honorary witness.

Mr. Rizik explained that this agreement seeks to strengthen the country's agricultural programs, the development of technology improvement initiatives, as well as the development of training for professional and non-professional personnel in the sector.

"We are pleased to have been able to establish this agreement of understanding with which we will be able to fulfill our purpose of supporting member countries in achieving a balanced economic and social growth model," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

The agreement also specifies that support will be provided in the formulation of recommendations on agricultural credit policy, as well as joint training on issues related to the sector and water use.

This initiative is part of the Human Development and Social Inclusion strategic axis, with which social capacities are generated to achieve the objective of improving the well-being and quality of life of the Central American region.
