Sixth State of the Region Report launched with CABEI support

San José, July 23, 2021 - The results of an exhaustive investigation showing the current situation and challenges of sustainable human development in Central America and the Dominican Republic are available to the public as of Thursday, when the 2021 Sixth State of the Region Report was launched under the auspices of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

The event was opened by CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, who highlighted the report's high quality, which will allow both the Bank and the regional country authorities to have indicators and comparisons that will allow them to improve their weaknesses and replicate the strengths of their neighboring countries.

"CABEI is the development bank of the Central American region, and as such, we identify the importance of cooperating economically and intellectually with a study as important and thorough as this one, which contributes to the consolidation of democracy in our region by promoting the participation of an informed citizenry, transparency and, above all, debates that foster human development and social inclusion," added Mossi.

The Sixth State of the Region Report is composed of fourteen chapters ranging from a synopsis, "The covid-19 pandemic: effects on sustainable human development and measures taken to address it," "Views on Central America and regional integration," to "Environmental conflict: an approach for analyzing pressures on ecosystems and their resources," "Networks and productive and employment linkages," and "New migratory dynamics," among others.

Mossi took advantage of his speech to emphasize that CABEI is working hard to fulfill its purpose of contributing to the efforts to consolidate a prosperous and attractive region for investment, and to continue to be the opportunity bridge between the region and the world.

"Undoubtedly the results of this Sixth State of the Region Report will help us to achieve this objective by better identifying the challenges facing our member countries from the economic, social, political, migratory, environmental and other points of view," he concluded.
