CABEI´s Board of Governors elects new Executive President

CABEI is the most relevant multilateral development institution for the countries of the Central American Integration System region.

Tegucigalpa, October 1, 2018.- The Board of Governors of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), during the LXVII Special Meeting elected Dr. Dante Mossi as the new Executive President.

The Board of Governors is composed of the Ministers of Finance, Treasury, Economy or Presidents of the Central Banks of the Bank's member countries.

The President of the Board of Governors, the Minister of Finance of the Dominican Republic, Donald Guerrero, expressed that the decision was made from a shortlist of candidates selected through a public, international and open competition among citizens of CABEI's five Central American founding countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.

Dr. Dante Mossi will assume on December 1, the position which is currently held by the also Honduran, Dr. Nick Rischbieth, who has been at the head of the organization during the last two periods from 2008 to 2018, a time in which important transformations were achieved for the institution.

As a result, CABEI is the most relevant multilateral bank for the countries of the Central American Integration System. It has a solid equity backed by its members, a broad liquidity base, and a rating of A+ close to becoming AA- which will constitute the best risk in terms of credit rating in Latin America.

It has a subscribed capital close to US$ 4.9 billion with approvals of US$ 1.9 billion, and disbursements of more than US$ 1.5 billion annually.

Dante Mossi, a Honduran national, joined the Honduras office of the World Bank in 2003 as an economist and then as Chief Operating Officer. He subsequently served as Head of Operations in the Ghana office, as World Bank Representative in Paraguay, and now serves as Head of Operations in the global energy practice in Africa.

Prior to joining the World Bank, Mossi worked for 10 years in the Government of Honduras. His most recent positions were as Chief Economist of the Presidential Secretariat, and as Secretary of the Economic Cabinet.

Mossi holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Honduras, a Master's degree in Economics from Duke University, and a PhD in Economics from Vanderbilt University.  
Among the items included in the day's agenda were institutional issues and aspects related to the Bank's capitalization process.
