The training aims to update knowledge and tools in order to enhance personnel capacities.

Tegucigalpa, August 7, 2019.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) trained more than 45 employees with the course denominated, “Risks Associated with Procurement.” The course focused on several tools necessary to achieve success in the projects financed by the Bank.

The course was given by the Senior Procurement Specialist Juan Carlos Martell, who made known the risks associated to the area. Martell stated that there is no scenario with zero risk probability and that this is not only true in procurement, which is why it is important for all the related areas to ensure compliance with procurement norms in the project cycle.

Attendees learned about issues associated with risks, including: the scope of procurement and fiduciary and reputational risks for multilateral organizations, among other subjects. The speaker also mentioned that the risk analysis should conclude with a mitigation plan that ensures adequate resources for its implementation.

The following day, a workshop to enhance the technical capacities of officials was held; it focused on implementation of best practices in the development of terms of references for project operations.

Some of the most relevant issues addressed during the second workshop included terms of reference structure involved in the contracting of works, goods, services and consulting; the recommended content; frequent errors; and others.
