CABEI supports families of Guatemalan Social Aid project denominated "#juntos502"

The financial and nutritional support targets the neediest groups in the face of the COVID-19 emergency.

Guatemala, July 7, 2020.- With the aim of helping families in situations of vulnerability as a result of the difficult situation caused by COVID-19 and as part of activities carried out in the framework of its Corporate Environmental and Social Responsibility System component, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) provided a donation of US$10 thousand dollars to the Asociación Educativa, Cultural y Religiosa/ Educational, Cultural and Religious Association of Santo Domingo in Guatemala.

In this context, the donation contributed to mitigating the needs of food and financial support for families in vulnerable situations, especially for those who have lost their employment.

The action seeks to promote the integral development and social insertion of the most vulnerable groups, while improving quality of life, especially for children, women heads of families, street vendors and the chronically ill.

Beneficiaries included the KOMON SAMAJ community collective in Patzún, Convent of Missionary Carmelites of Santa Teresa in Patzún; San Juan Bautista parish zone 5 Santo Domingo Las Chacras; Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata del Basurero in zone 3; Immaculate Conception Parish of Villa Nueva; Puerto Barrios, Izabal; Santo Domingo Parish, zone 1; Cahabón, Alta Verapaz; and Santa María Ixhuatán. In addition, food was provided to 119 children and adolescents from the Temporary Shelter located in Casa Veritas, zone 7.

Regarding the healthcare field, CABEI provided non-reimbursable support funds for its member countries, donated tests and supplies for the detection of COVID-19 and purveyed other types of credit management procedures, such as support to Central Banks and the Financial System, as well as initiatives aimed at the MSME sector.
