CABEI promotes regional cooperation in areas of common interest for the region

The XVII Summit of Presidents and Heads of State of Tuxtla will be prepared at the event.

Bogota, June 11, 2019.- Today, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), which is a member of the Interinstitutional Technical Group, participated  in the III Executive Commission of the Mesoamerica Project in the city of Bogotá, Colombia. At the event, the resolution and preparation roadmap for the XVII Summit of Presidents and Heads of State of Tuxtla to be held in the month of August in the city of San Pedro Sula, Honduras, was prepared.

CABEI Executive Vice President, Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora, reiterated the Bank's commitment to continue supporting the Mesoamerican cooperation agenda and expressed its interest to financially foster projects of regional interest such as the railway transportation initiative, as part of the Mesoamerican agenda of mobility and logistics; the Panama-Colombia electricity interconnection; and efforts made by the region in terms of trade facilitation and competitiveness.

It is noteworthy that CABEI has made approvals within the Mesoamerica Project for US$588.5 million in the area of Electric Infrastructure and Institutionality; US$1.92 billion in the area of Interconnection of Infrastructure and Transportation Services; and US$59.5 million in the area of Social Housing. The above represents an accumulated amount of US$2.57 billion.
