CABEI promotes investment and trade for Central America during a work mission to the EU and United Kingdom
The CABEI mission sought new initiatives, investments and business opportunities during a tour through Belgium, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Tegucigalpa, February 24, 2020.- The Executive President of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), Dr. Dante Mossi, completed a tour of two cities in Europe and the United Kingdom, where he reiterated the institutional commitment to continue working towards creating incentives that facilitate and attract large projects and investment in order to promote integration and development in the Central American region.
The mission to Europe began with a meeting in Brussels with the Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Jolita Butkeviciene, at the General Directorate for Cooperation and Development of the European Commission with the aim of identifying and increasing cooperation and joint financing actions in the Central American region. Subsequently, the meeting was complemented with actions in Madrid.
Likewise, the work agenda included a series of meetings in London with investors and development funds with the aim of bringing together initiatives, programs and projects for the public and private sector of the Central American region. Meetings were also held with trade, investment and export financing institutions of the UK government, as well as with the International Coffee Organization to promote the Bank's initiatives with the sector and the possible launch of the ITRECAFE Program in London.
The visit ended with a meeting with the ambassadors of the SICA countries, in which Honduras holds the Protempore Presidency, where a free trade agreement and association agreement with the United Kingdom were discussed.
Cooperation relations and joint work in Madrid
In Madrid, Dr. Mossi was received by Spain's Secretary General of Treasury, Carlos San Basilio, to discuss the CABEI capital increase from 5 to 7 billion and Spain's willingness to participate in joint initiatives.
Likewise, President Mossi met with the Secretary General of the Ibero-American General Secretariat, Rebeca Grynspan, to discuss educational actions aimed at promoting internships for students from the Central American region.
He also took the opportunity to visit the President of the Official Credit Institute, José Carlos García de Quevedo, with the aim of promoting investment and business opportunities for the Central American region and Spain. He subsequently held a meeting with representatives of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation with the objective of strengthening joint work.
Furthermore, CABEI Executive President held a meeting with the Mayor of the city of Madrid, José Luis Martínez, with whom he discussed the exchange of knowledge in electromobility, management of electric public transportation, establishment of recharge centers and vehicle park renovation plan, among others.
