CABEI participates in the MDB Project Plaza for three consecutive years
Since the opening of the CABEI Korea Office in 2022, CABEI has participated in the MDB Project Plaza for three consecutive years to bring more Korean investment to the Central American region.
Seoul, November 27, 2024. The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) participated in the Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) Project Plaza 2024 to introduce the Bank’s project opportunities to the Korean companies searching for new opportunities in Central America.
The event, organized by the Korea Trade and Investment Office (KOTRA) and hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), brought together MDBs such as the WB, ADB, IDB, EBRD and AfDB, government institutions, financial institutions and different Korean companies in the energy, environment, water and plant construction sectors, among others.
Each MDB had the opportunity to introduce their institutions, present the financing programs, the projects to be developed and the procurement processes.
CABEI presented a road infrastructure opportunity to provide safe and easy road connectivity, and a hospital infrastructure project to provide expanded safety standards and modern medical equipment for patients. During the event, CABEI and the Korean enterprises also had space for 1:1 meeting to have a better understanding of the projects offered by the institution.
Despite being the most recent member country to join the Bank in 2019, Korea has constantly demonstrated interest in the region, for example, until the date Korean companies have already signed different contracts for a total amount of $1,000 million with CABEI to generate a positive transformation for the Bank’s member countries. The Republic of Korea, through its Korea Office, will continue to work as a bridge between CABEI and Korea to bring opportunities to the Central American market and support the economic and investment cooperation between them.
