CABEI implements more social responsibility actions in Guatemala

CABEI works with great satisfaction providing support to the neediest groups.

Guatemala City, November 4, 2013.-  In the framework of its Institutional Responsibility Plan, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) demonstrated its solidarity with the Guatemalan community by donating US$2,000.00 to the "Padre Pedro" Children's Hospital.

As part of its commitment to the Guatemalan people, CABEI carries out assistance programs in the fields of education and health care by supporting NGOs, such as Fundación Amigos Contra el Cáncer, Fundación para el Niño Enfermo Renal and Asociación Camino Seguro, which provide help to Guatemalan children.

The donation will support the following programs: a) A recovery area for malnourished children; b) A boarding school for academically talented girls from families of limited economic means; and c) A pharmacy open to the public.
"Padre Pedro" Hospital was founded in 1984 and aims to assist the recovery of low-income children who suffer from malnutrition and other diseases. It is located in the Municipality of El Progreso in the Department of Jutiapa.

Currently its services have been expanded to include the Department of Jalapa, thanks to a religious community that is lending support. The religious group works out of a borrowed house where they tend to the needs of rural people, with a special focus on cases of malnourished children.

Over the last five years, under the leadership of CABEI Executive President Dr. Nick Rischbieth, the Bank's Institutional Responsibility efforts have promoted programs to foster the region's sustainable development by promoting practices that foster environmental protection and create better living conditions for Central Americans.
