CABEI grants emergency aid to support population affected by Hurricane Otto

The CABEI support is targeted at the most affected areas and inhabitants.

Tegucigalpa, December 2, 2016. - The Board of Directors of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) granted non-reimbursable financial cooperation to the Governments of Nicaragua and Costa Rica; each country will receive US$250 thousand.

CABEI Executive President Dr. Nick Rischbieth stated that, “The CABEI funds will be used to support the recovery from Hurricane Otto and are part of the resources that the Bank has budgeted under its Emergency Aid Program, which was designed to help vulnerable populations that have been affected by natural disasters.”

The CABEI Board of Directors responded to the request for aid and considered it convenient to grant the donation in order to help mitigate the damages caused by Hurricane Otto in northern Costa Rica and southern Nicaragua

Dr. Rischbieth expressed to both governments his support and solidarity in the face of the serious human and material damage suffered in the affected areas.
