With this loan, CABEI supports the country in promoting sustainable practices and services for competitiveness.

Tegucigalpa, August 27, 2019.- The Executive President of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) Dr. Dante Mossi and the Honduran Minister of Finance Mrs. Rocío Tábora signed a loan contract for an amount of US$63.587 million to partially finance the execution of the "Project for the Modernization of the Identification Document in Honduras (Identify yourself).”

This operation is part of the Interinstitutional Strategic Plan of the National Registry of People (RNP), specifically in the stage denominated, "Identify yourself." This stage involves acquiring the technological infrastructure for the collection of biometric information (facial and fingerprint) of Honduran citizens through the massive enrollment (at a national level) of people over 16 years of age, in order to have a new database at the RNP which allows the printing of new identifications that meet international safety standards.

CABEI Executive President Dr. Dante Mossi stated that, "With this initiative, the Bank hopes to provide a solution to create a new database and deliver a new identity card with international security measures, which ultimately translates into confidence and transparency for the population.”

Currently, Honduras maintains a portfolio of projects with the financial support of CABEI, specifically in such sectors as road infrastructure, energy, financing for productive projects, financing for rural development programs and multisectoral programs, among others. Such financing has been managed by the Ministry of Finance and developed through various executing agencies.
