Tegucigalpa, June 1, 2016.- A mission of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), headed by the Bank’s Executive Vice President Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez, held number of meetings to discuss the financial mechanisms and solutions that CABEI is promoting to foster the development of the region’s countries.

During the meeting, Attorney Rodríguez made a presentation, whose principal points included the Bank’s credit activity and its regional projects and initiatives to diversify its loan portfolio.

For his part, Martin Soto, Subsecretary of International Financial Relations at the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance and his work team presented eight projects totalling US$360 million for the areas of infrastructure, health care, education and communication.

It is noteworthy that last August, CABEI approved a US$50 million loan to the Argentine Government for the partial financing of the Program to Strengthen Research and Development Capabiities (PROFOCAID). This was CABEI’s first operation in Argentina since its incorporation as a non-regional member in 1995. It is a pioneering operation to support scientific research and the development of knowledge and innovation.
