CABEI and SIECA explore spaces for collaboration in the region's economic and social development

Both entities of the Central American Integration System seek to continue promoting initiatives to strengthen regional trade.

Tegucigalpa, May 10, 2019.- The Executive Vice President of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) Attorney Alejandro Rodríguez Zamora led a working meeting with the Secretary General of the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat (SIECA), Mr. Melvin Redondo.

During the meeting, Attorney Rodríguez Zamora reiterated CABEI's commitment to the process of regional economic integration through technical and financial support in various projects, programs and initiatives that fall under the framework of the strategies coordinated by SIECA, which are aimed at promoting an adequate business climate and investment in the Central American region, trade facilitation and modernization of border post infrastructure, among others.

Likewise, the relevance of exploring new initiatives in collaboration with SIECA was raised to continue strengthening the Process of Deep Integration between Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador in order to modernize the border crossings and reduce times for the productive sectors of the countries participating in the initiative.

Attorney Rodríguez Zamora concluded that, "CABEI values the strategic initiatives led by SIECA and proposes to support them through the financing of programs and projects related, among others, to trade facilitation, customs union, initiatives that promote the physical integration of the region and programs aimed at strengthening regional institutions."
