CABEI and Argentine Ministry of Finance sign loans totaling US$120 million

CABEI has approved resources for projects in sectors such as health, education and human development.

Tegucigalpa, October 13, 2017. – The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) signed loan agreements totaling US$120 million with the Ministry of Finance of Argentina to support important social projects in that nation.

The loan contracts were signed by CABEI Executive President, Dr. Nick Rischbieth, and Argentine Minister of Finance, Mr. Luis Caputo.

The contracts signed involve the following loans: The first loan for US$60 million will be aimed at the Integral Habitat Program; the second loan amounting to US$30 million will be used to attend the Project denominated, “Management of Outcomes in Healthcare for the Elderly Population of Argentina (PROGERSA);” and the third loan for US$30 million will be targeted at the Program to Support the Strategy for the Expansion of Coverage and Access to Initial Education (PROCEI).

This was announced by the CABEI Executive President Dr. Nick Rischbieht on Friday. He stated that, “CABEI grants these resources to support its member countries in their priorities to promote initiatives aimed at strengthening factors that have an impact on human development and social infrastructure.”

Dr. Rischbieht added that, “The loan contracts are in line with the Bank’s strategic objectives aimed at strengthening human development and social infrastructure, promoting financial solidity through geographic portfolio diversification and reaffirming its commitment to support its member countries in carrying out initiatives with innovative operational modalities in favor of regional development.”

The signing ceremony was held during the World Bank’s annual meeting in Washington DC, USA, in which Dr. Rischbieht had an intense work agenda holding meetings with official missions and representatives of investment banks.
