The renewal of the ISO 14001:2015 certification recognizes the company's efforts to reduce environmental impacts and promote sustainability in the region.

Tegucigalpa, November 10th, 2022.- In recognition of maintaining environmentally sustainable operational and administrative practices, the headquarters of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) in Honduras and its office in El Salvador received the renewal of the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certification for a new 3-year period, until 2025.

This action was achieved as part of the activities carried out within the framework of CABEI's Environmental Management System (EMS), which includes the administrative and operational activities carried out at both the headquarters in Tegucigalpa and the Salvadoran representative office, audited by ICONTEC as the certifying entity, which verified the different components that comply with ISO 14001:2015 standards, as well as the sustainable consumption of resources, the generation of renewable energy at the facilities, and the proper management and treatment of waste, among other indicators that contribute to the region's sustainability.

"This is a significant and very important achievement for CABEI and all of its collaborators because it reaffirms our commitment to achieve environmentally friendly and sustainable development, not only in the operations we support, but also in our internal culture and management. We will continue working so that by 2024, we will have five representative offices with this certification," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

During the event held this Wednesday at CABEI headquarters, Mrs. Sofía Alvarado Ramirez, ICONTEC’s representative in Honduras, presented the Accreditation Certificate to Dr. Dante Mossi, CABEI's Executive President.

CABEI received its first EMS certification in 2019.  Its implementation is framed by both the Bank's Environmental and Social Policy and CABEI’s 2020-2024 Institutional Strategy, which establishes environmental and social sustainability as a crosscutting axis, allowing the Environmental Management System to address the environmental impacts of each CABEI office in a particular way, adopting operational controls and specific measures in each country that is part of the System.
