Santo Domingo, June 30, 2018.- The Executive President of CABEI, Dr. Nick Rischbieth, participated in the LI Summit of Presidents of the Central American Integration System (SICA). In his speech to the Heads of State of the SICA countries, he ratified the role of the Bank as an entity that is ready to respond in a timely manner to the needs of the region.

During his participation, Dr. Rischbieth emphasized that the entity works to accompany the region in reducing poverty and achieving greater integration in order to consolidate well-being and prosperity.

He stressed that "Today we have become a financially stronger and more solid regional development bank. We have evolved from serving only the five founding countries to being a financial support for all Central American countries, by changing the institutional mandate to 'promote the economic integration and balanced economic and social development of the Central American region, which includes the founding countries and the non-founding regional countries.'"

In line with this commitment, President Rischbieth reviewed the progress and great achievements made by the multilateral since its foundation to conclude with the results achieved from 2008 to 2018, in which the CABEI has disbursed nearly 16 billion dollars in 669 operations to finance different programs and projects in productive and social infrastructure, energy, health, education and other sectors.

Finally, he indicated that, with the implementation of the different programs and projects approved in the last 10 years, CABEI has impacted the well-being of the life of 70.5 million citizens and the generation of more than 205,000 jobs. In addition, it has made net transfers to its countries in excess of $3 billion.
