Cordoba, September 29, 2021 – The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Villa María National University (UNVM) of Argentina have launched the Latin American Diploma in Urban Solid Waste and Similar Waste Treatment with the aim of training professionals to deal with one of the world's main environmental problems.

Those interested may pre-register through this link until October 22 and must have completed secondary school or high school, a requirement that may only be waived for those who have proven experience in the subject matter of the diploma course.

This is a training space of the Institute of Basic and Applied Sciences of the UNVM that will apply formative and didactic learning methodologies that allow the intervention and participation of students in the current environmental context.

"Environmental pollution from solid waste in urban and rural areas is one of the priority problems facing humanity, which is why the training of professionals in this area takes on greater relevance. As CABEI, we are committed to complying with our Environmental and Social Sustainability Strategic Axis in all of our operations," commented CABEI Executive President Dante Mossi.

CABEI Director for Argentina and Colombia, Maximiliano Alonso, added, "the articulation with higher education institutions in Argentina is part of our strategy of cooperation and accompaniment in priority areas, specifically those that mitigate the effects of climate change".

The Institute's Secretary of Research and Extension, Carlos Berra, mentioned that "the Diploma is an educational alternative with specific training in urban solid waste management, providing tools for the planning and evaluation of projects developed in different Latin American countries".

The specialization will be taught virtually for six months and is aimed at public administration officials, teachers, students, private company personnel, technicians, and professionals. It consists of four modules: environmental management and waste, management and treatment technologies, waste disposal structures and safety, and occupational health.
