CABEI and Republic of El Salvador formalize US$115.2 million investment in sports infrastructure

The "PRODEPORTE" program will strengthen and modernize sports venues nationwide.

San Salvador, July 8, 2021. - This Thursday, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) formalized a US$115.2 million financing contract with the Republic of El Salvador to execute the "Infrastructure Construction and Rescue of Sports Scenarios at the National Level Program (PRODEPORTE)".

CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, commented: "the program will provide spaces to promote the participation of national athletes, supporting and stimulating the individual and collective practice of sports for the prevention of violence, the improvement of health, the professionalization of athletes and the recreation of the inhabitants, in addition to promoting the reactivation of the construction and tourism sectors".

This initiative will be executed by the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES), and will contribute to strengthen and modernize sports venues nationwide, through remodeling, construction, rehabilitation and equipment, benefiting different disciplines, including Paralympic sports.

The Program is consistent with the Government of El Salvador's 2019-2024 Cuscatlán Sports Plan and is framed within CABEI's 2020-2024 Institutional Strategy, in its Human Development and Social Inclusion Axis, which envisions generating social capacities to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of the Central American region.
