CABEI and Municipality of Guatemala strengthen alliance for a more prosperous future
City of Guatemala, November 4th, 2024.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the Municipality of Guatemala reaffirmed their commitment to work together to promote sustainable development in Guatemala's capital. During a recent meeting, both institutions evaluated the progress of their joint projects, and laid the foundations for new initiatives that will benefit millions of Guatemalans.
The relationship between CABEI and the Municipality of Guatemala dates back more than four decades, during which high-impact projects have been executed in various sectors, such as road infrastructure, potable Water and Sanitation, urban development, and institutional strengthening. These projects have generated tangible benefits for citizens, such as greater access to basic services, improved mobility, and job creation.
In this new stage of collaboration, both institutions agreed to explore new investment opportunities in areas such as potable water, urban mobility, sustainable urban development, and climate resilience. The projects financed by CABEI seek to expand and modernize the public transportation system, rehabilitate public spaces, promote social housing, and foster the circular economy, among others.
CABEI Executive President Gisela Sánchez highlighted the importance of this strategic alliance and underscored the joint achievements. For his part, the Mayor of Guatemala, Ricardo Quiñonez, thanked CABEI for its support and reaffirmed his commitment to work in close collaboration to improve Guatemalans' quality of life.
This alliance between CABEI and the Municipality of Guatemala is an example of how inter-institutional cooperation can generate positive and lasting results. By working together, both institutions are building a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable city.
