CABEI backs Creative Education Program to benefit more than 1,000 Belizean students

Through its Social Support Foundation (FAS), US$100,000 was granted for the implementation of courses that include Artificial Intelligence (AI) activities, among others.

Tegucigalpa, November 18th, 2022 - To support the strengthening of the education system in Belize, a regional member of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the multilateral approved a US$100,000 grant through the Social Support Foundation (FAS) for the development of the Creative Education Program launched by the country's Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology.

The initiative foresees the training of around one thousand primary school students and the design and development of ten creative education modules in a first stage, as well as the training of thirty teachers from ten public schools to supervise and conduct courses that include basic creation activities, construction of drones, robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI) coding.

"We are pleased to announce our support for this important program that represents an opportunity for the transformation of the educational system and innovation in the education of children in Belize. We are confident that this initiative will contribute to strengthening students' knowledge and skills so that they can solve everyday problems in a practical and innovative way," commented CABEI Executive President Dr. Dante Mossi.

In line with the above, the program will foster in students basic competencies such as decision-making and teamwork through activities related to science, technology and engineering.

CABEI created the FAS in 2020 to promote high-impact social projects in its member countries. This initiative responds to the multilateral's actions in support of poverty reduction and improving the quality of life of citizens in the region, as contemplated in CABEI's 2020-2024 Institutional Strategy, specifically in the Strategic Axis of Human Development and Inclusion.
