San José, June 10, 2021 - The facilitation of regional trade, financial inclusion, innovation and environmental sustainability, as well as investment in resilient infrastructure will make Central America a more competitive region, highlighted the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) Executive President, Dante Mossi, to the highest level of governments and the private sector during his speech at the SICA-Spain Extraordinary Summit.

At the event, held on Thursday in Costa Rica, he explained that economic openness across borders and the digitalization of procedures are necessary to reduce processing times. As an example, he mentioned the Customs Union between Guatemala and Honduras, an initiative promoted by CABEI, which El Salvador has already begun the process to join.

"The use of regional guarantees has been successful in inducing a second loan to overcome the pandemic," said Mossi, referring to the issue of innovative and sustainable financial inclusion, while detailing that, to date, 40% of CABEI's portfolio is directed to environmental sustainability initiatives.

Mossi concluded his speech by highlighting that CABEI has the best credit rating (AA) in Latin America thanks to the partners that support it.
