The multilateral is making progress in strengthening its Procurement Policy and Best Practices in its financed operations.
Tegucigalpa, October 31st, 2022.- At the end of September, the Heads of Procurement (HoP) of the Multilateral Development Banks held their annual meeting, the first face-to-face meeting since the beginning of the pandemic, an event in which the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) participated.
"In the midst of an increasingly challenging and complex global environment, as a development bank, we are committed to continue applying actions and mechanisms that provide solutions in accordance with international standards in the management of acquisitions in the operations we finance in the region," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.
At the meeting, after taking stock of the critical role of procurement in facilitating and coordinating borrower countries' access to medical supplies and vaccines over the past two years, the HoP productively discussed and agreed on a common principle focused on the key issues of each participating institution, including sustainable and green procurement, application of social criteria, building supply chain resilience, addressing trade-related issues, electronic procurement platforms, borrower capacity development, and training for the professionalization of the procurement function.
Celebrating the group's solid achievements in harmonizing policies and practices in the twenty years of its existence, members reaffirmed their continued support for procurement solutions that are tailored to needs and seek value for money to promote international development cooperation in an increasingly challenging and complex global environment.
