Tegucigalpa, December 2nd, 2022.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), through the Social Support Foundation (FAS), made its first disbursement of US$73,350.00 to Solidarios Consejo de Fundaciones Americanas de Desarrollo for the implementation of the CABEI-Solidarios a la Microempresa Program.

"With this action, we reiterate CABEI's commitment to develop programs that contribute to generating a social impact in the region. The resources will be earmarked to support MSMEs, which are the main generator of jobs and income, especially in rural communities," said CABEI Executive President Dr. Dante Mossi.

The program has non-reimbursable resources of US$100,000.00 and its objective is to provide incentives to the micro, small and medium-size enterprise (MSME) sector in the region through the allocation of monetary awards as seed capital to those who have efficiently managed their businesses, and the development of a training-mentoring program aimed at both the nominees for the monetary awards and the winners.

The participants in the program come from: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Panama, Belize, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay and Venezuela, where a process of evaluation and qualification of the projects was developed in accordance with the bases of the program to subsequently select this year's 18 winners.

Since 2020, CABEI created the FAS to promote high social impact projects in its member countries, in response to the multilateral's actions in support of microenterprises in the region, in recognition of their social and economic development work.
