CABEI participated in the most important renewable energy conference in the region
The third edition of RENPOWER was held in Panama City and promoted dialogues on electricity infrastructure, energy transition, green hydrogen, natural gas and available financing programs, among others.
Tegucigalpa, February 25th, 2022.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) participated in the Third Edition of RENPOWER AMERICA CENTRAL 2022 in order to promote initiatives that contribute to social welfare and boost the productive sector by optimizing the use of energy resources.
This event took place from February 23-24 and focused on promoting dialogue related to the energy sector. CABEI presented on the Energy Transition in Central America and the role of renewable energy sources in the management of the regional green agenda and shared its vision on the use of Natural Gas and the use of its potential in the region.
For CABEI, electric energy is a priority issue, which is why it promotes projects in each country of the region identified by the authorities, but also regional projects such as a portion of the Electric Interconnection System of Central American Countries I (SIEPAC), an initiative aimed at developing a more competitive energy base for the region; as well as strengthening the institutional legal mechanisms for private sector participation in the Regional Electricity Market (MER). The Bank's initial contribution was for US$109.0 million, and in 2017 it approved an extension for US$128.0 million.
